All ladders included, 6v6 ladder (and 3v3 as well) has way less matches than in 2007 while 2on2 is quite active since late 2007. It's not the same scale.
i have no idea what you were aiming at while doing this
there is no honour in being #1 at cb ladder, noone cares. why didnt you figure out a way to change this rather than making some graphs D:
oh and on a sidenote, people dont just randomly play praccs. u find a pracc often because u want to try a new defence, a new player, something radical maybe. why would u want these test results logged on some ladder?
ladders have 24h rule which u need to remove then, also that means u need to add the player to ur roaster. that makes me ask why all this shit for a fucking prac?
nobody follows that 24 hour rule, and one ppl rup they accept to play the clan, that rule was made for the cod2 and cod4 clans which are making multiple other clans with teh same lineup cos of e-points
now it is like that, it didn't use to be like that, if opponent saw later that player wasn't in the roaster they got forfeit win and it wasn't that rare to happen
There are some games where being top on a CB ladder (even in top 50) means something and can get you into an MGC easily. But yeah, ET isn't one of them.
some people simply dont care about the ladder
others are 2 afraid to play ladder games cause they might loose
dont think anything will change the attitude of the players is just too fucked up
It only shows the activity of the ladders and imo it's quite predictable: the first few years very popular and then the interest decreases + the period before quakecon or CC it improves slightly + in summer less activity.
Don't think you needed to put so much effort in this to prove the obvious. What will you do with this report? :) Anyway at least well done for putting so much effort in it :)
When I played in Memento Mori, we tried to play every pracc as a ladder match. It didn't really make a difference for us if people saw our 'results' or not, and challenging/accepting a game on CB takes like 5 minutes.
If you don't care about placing good on the ladders, then why not do this? If more activity on the ladders make CB put more effort and maybe even cash into ET, then why not? It's an incredibly small effort for a potentially large reward.
playing ladder games is a hell of fun. it's diffrent then some random irc war. it's sad that there aren't anymore teams around with the same sight of things like you.
I must agree with you here, more teams should play more matches in ladders or join them. ESL or CB or both. 2on2 3on3 5on5 or 6on6, doesnt matter.
We have other "ocassional" cups and tournaments, but ladders are always active and it's the perfect place to keep competition alive. I miss many teams on ladder nowadays, teams that are active and playing.
Like you say it doesnt take that much to play at least a match per week and all ET benefits from this having more variety of teams and players to challenge.
However in 2 years, that last paragraph is the only "promotion" I have seen for ladders.
Anyway I hope that forcing 5on5 and automatches gave you a lesson of what NOT to do and that more teams join CB ladder specially which for good or bad remains the most active ladder.
the real problem with ladders is the attitude of players. most players that mix together regularly are still somewhy SCARED of playing officials. I really don't see the reason for any of this, whereas I haven't played an IRC war for what, 2-3 years now? ( apart from some totally random 6on6 mixes)
scrims lack the whee bit of tension that ladder games have, yet it has become way too repetitive playing against the same opponents in the 2on2/3on3 ladder already. it beats me as to why people that are registered on CB would play a prac instead of an official. it takes just about 2 minutes tops to create the challenge and another 30 seconds to accept one. scrims seem to end the very same way each and every time - whether your opponent jumps up screaming "HAHAHAHAH N1 WH" resulting in a kick in just about 2 minutes or you are playing against totally unknown poles spreading 80 headies per round. you pick.
I've seen teams with that fear, "oh its an official"... it's just a game man. They should consider the benefits from playing in ladders with some rules and control over abuse (cheaters etc), so at least there are less hackers than on random irc wars and like you say that nice tension that you wont find in irc wars.
In a perfect world any team that likes this game should join ladders as the key place to keep competition alive.
So according to the last graph, activity should pick up like it did in the past!
Total Matches played in 2009: 5538
??

for real clans you really need a ladder system.

you are pretty much screwed

the answer? an opencup for both formats !

always when I ask 1on1 offi silly ctf, never play
Bring 6on6 back and promotion for the ladder, not in a lost article like this.
like cb 6v6 open cup from X to X.
this would give a better representation of how tournaments/cups/etc affected games.
additionally at least have Crossfire Lan @ X as i would feel that this would have the greatest impact to games played. or something along those lines.
without looking at other contingent factors those graphs are fairly useless.
be afraid
