Ross Brawn stated that there's a new rule in 2010, that you are allowed to overtake when the safety car is gone. David Coulthard said something similar. Maybe that's the reason why the safety car came in, cause with the old rule that wouldn't have made sense.
No, that's the change, the safety car was gone and starting this year, apparently (according to Ross Brawn) the new rule states that you are allowed to pass other cars after you passed the safety car. So you don't have to wait till after the finish line anymore.
Lots of excitement, too bad the last safetycar wasn't removed a bit earlier.
Trulli almost decapitated Chandok :D
Dunno what the stewards are gonna say about the Alonso-Schumacher fight, but if it's allowed it's absolutely epic! Domenicali said it was not allowed, but I doubt that they were sure about it. Looking at how Alonso desperately tried to accelerate out of rascasse and keep Schumacher behind, it looked more like they were aware that overtaking was possible.
It never was allowed to overtake before the finish-line in the past, but according to Ross Brawn there's a new rule in 2010. Let's wait and see what the stewards are gonna say. If it wasn't allowed, I blame Damon Hill :D
"lol'd at Schumacher overtaking Alonso at last turn :DDDDDDDDD"
My guesses:
Was a Scuderia Ferrari mistake. They said to Alonso that he cant try overpass Hamilton, when he asked them about this. The reason is that Ferrari was thinking in the following F1 rule:
"40.13 If the race ends whilst the safety car is deployed it will enter the pit lane at the end of the last lap and the cars will take the chequered flag as normal without overtaking."
The problem is that they are wrong because the safety car was anounced that left the circuit in this lap and finally Schumacher made the overtake with green flags in the last corner.
Alonso also in their statements to the press said that he still expected that Schumi will be punished:
Fernando Alonso: "When I saw Michael overtaking me, I thought: 'good, some points that he will lose ...' "
They announced the SC was coming and turned the lights off followed by green flags and green light meaning they can race after the white line. Alonso fucked up and now they are bitching about it.
True, thanks for the youtube vids. Imo Ferrari knew about it too, cause you see Alonso trying to accelerate like a maniac. Now that he got owned by Schumacher, they try to whine about the regulations to get 6th place.
Alonso let him do it ;)
And Hamilton (that also was warned early via radio about the 40.13 rule) was tempting Alonso previously (was driving very very slowly spite SC conditions), in the same way that Alonso did with Schumi.
But Alonso made a gap with Lewis to avoid all the risks.
"...trying to accelerate like a maniac...."
I think that he made it to show that he wasnt slow enough to provoke an easy overtake, and clearly show that was a Schumi fail more than him.... well its not good enough expressed but hope u got my point.... ;)
Well, Ferrari really had choosen this strategy before the race. The had got 2 options:
1) Change tyres in the first lap
2) change tyres in the last lap
They prefer the 1) option, and the first SC was a welcome gift ;)
redbull ftw
trulli :DDDDDDDD
Imo he'll be punished, because he can't exceed when there is safety care

moral winner of this race is Alonso, no doubts about it... 17 places...
but yeah, excellent strategy from Ferrari: starting on soft tyres and changing quickly during the safety car.
1) Change tyres in the first lap
2) change tyres in the last lap
They prefer the 1) option, and the first SC was a welcome gift ;)
