ATI powerplay

[Nerdjournal]
Some ppl might remember me raging a month or so ago about my brand new ATI5750 which lagged ET like hell, while all other games seemed to run fine.

At last I have found the reason for this behavious: Netherlands ATI powerplay. New ati cards try to reduce powerusage by clocking back the gpu when it thinks you dont need it. For me this meant my 700mhz vid card decided ET didnt need more then 150mhz. Till there was an airstrike. Or you looked at goldrush bridge :') Result = FPS dropping from 125 => 80 / 50 ish.

Anyway, there's plenty of things written on how to disable it, just look for ATI powerplay. You can check wether you ATI card is scaling back closing all applications and opening catalyst. At overdrive you can see your current gpu clock speed.

Probably a driver issue i'd update to latest drivers I wouldn't disable that anyway.. it will probably shorten the life of your card considerably and will have a bigger power draw on your system overall
doesn't work for xp users tho, also pretty retarded that you can't just uncheck the fucking box for it to stick.

e: AMD GPU Clock Tool v0.9.26.0 works for 5800 cards
