EDIT: or maybe just that "XXX replied to your comment" in the inbox was the actual link, and not at msg with a link... if that made any sense at all...
it would get bigger if you would have more replies, you would turn it off as simply as those inbox messages for replies. clicking the text would take you straight to the comment. u could also have these staying at ur inbox with a preview of the comment.
