slow logins

so my pc has started to load the desktop really slow after logging in, and it used to go pretty quick.

what sort of programs do i want to be using to find out whats slowing everything down (task manager shows all as normal) and repair the system?

advanced uninstaller (for cleaning)
registry cleaner (take some decent program for it)

and u could disable ur windows sounds @ startup and shutdown, those are known to slowdown boot-time
even if this proposition sounds shit, it should help

not playing et atm so.. :D
Sounds like a service or app taking up 100% CPU. But actually I think it is your lanadapter, disable file sharing and printersharing on its properties.

Every1 in here seems to be horny from registry cleaner programs, don't use them, they only fuck up your register completely, making some programs useless coz they won't start anymore.

I'd suggest trying the following things:

1 - Clean your desktop, make sure there are only a few desktop items in there.

2 - Spyware scan, spyware can make your pc boot very slowly, follow this link for a good spyware-sweeper: http://www.hitmanpro.nl/hitmanpro/index.php?lang=en

3 - Virus scan, virusses can make your pc boot very slowly too, follow this link for a good free virusscanner: http://free.grisoft.com/

4 - Go to "start - run - type "msconfig" without the " - go to Startup - check every item at http://www.processlibrary.com/ and disable what is of unimportance.

5 - Reboot, and then press ctrl+alt+delete, go to processes, check every single process at http://www.processlibrary.com/ and disable what is of unimportance, then repeat step four and reboot again.

These are the most basic solutions, if you continue having problems after these steps, please tell it in a reply or pm, I'll help you further then.
Msconfig or unfortunately format
