moviemaking question

Ey guys, when I make an avi with Virtualdub, the quality is pretty decent, but without sound. I use Sony Vegas 8.0 to blend the video with some nice musix. But the quality becomes rly bad when I render it. Does someone know how I can keep the same quality as in Virtualdub, or even make it better? Thanks in advance!

don't compress your avi before you add music to it in sony vegas

SOOOOO do this

get your uncompressed avi => sony vegas => add music effects ect => extract at uncompressed => vdub add compression

then it should be fine
ye do it like kad said, only you might wanna use megui instead of the last vdub compression if you're doing x264

1st
be sure to use uncompressed/huffyuv while rendering screenshots to avi @ vdub

2nd
be sure to render unvompressed/huffyuv from vegas

3rd
render audio and video separately (you can set it in template`s options)

4th
use megui to compress, not vegas :S
vegas render is only good @ wmv, 5m 720p 25 fps preset, but for tests only
could you explain step 3 please? where to find the template options n stuff, thanks

when u click RENDER AS and you have choice of templates (aka presets) for a certain format, just try to find a button called CUSTOM or SETTINGS (dont remember;d)
then pick any template from the selector above, type in some lotto name and you are there :o
be sure to use video rendering quality @ best btw

and when u have the template opened you have 3 switches up : sth(dont remember) / VIDEO/ AUDIO

when u wanna render video only to to AUDIO and make sure that the box INCLUDE AUDIO isnt checked.
now you render video only

for rendering only audio just from render as` formats list choose WAV(microsoft) and it will save it automatically as audio only
