New Monitor!

OK, i think i'm in need of a new monitor, my current CRT monitor is fine but the max it goes is 100hz and that's a major disadvantage for gaming right? How much can i buy monitors that go up to 200hz or something?

Thanks, Benny.

100hz is enough for gaming. :P Download Powerstrip if you want to rack up the refreshrate.
what does it do and is it any useful for a 22' tft aswell if i may ask?

Powerstrip is BEST tool available to tweak your graphic card drivers. With it you can add custom resolutions and refreshrates, clock your graphic card etc. I have Powerstrip always running. :P
Definitely the best option is to boost CRT-monitors refreshrate. I have 7 years old CRT and with factory settings this is only capable of 85hz maximum. :D With Powerstrip I can get 120+hz @ 640x480, 110hz @ 800x600, 95hz @ 960x720 and so on. :P I myself use 100hz @ 640x480 when playing. :)
The best is that this program is absolutely free! :D With donation you can get the annoying "Tip of the day"-thingie from the start away.

I doubt that it would help tft / lcd-monitors otherwise than adding custom resolutions. :P

Yup my bad. 75hz with 76fps
Parent
Nothing good. Most panels are limited at 60Hz.
But not all, so if you want to find out which refresh rate is the optimal at a given resolution read the manual (and install the monitor drivers).

100 Hz is cool, but personally I like 120 Hz most... I got ViewSonic P227f... But, it's not easy to get new CRT monitors anymore. Only few shops are selling them
100hz is enough, sure you could draw a few frames more with more hz, but it's not worth spending a lot of money on.
And, it's nearly impossible to get a CRT these days.

(to information my monitor is 85hz@1280x1024 and 100hz@1024x786)
100is not enough. u clearly can see that its not as smooth as 120hz is.
hmm, which is better: 100fps/100hz or 100fps/120hz?
Parent
no difference - 100fps will be drawn anyway.
but 125fps / 120hz is way smoother.
Parent
Ye but I like to have 100 packets sent. :P
Parent
well i dont care much about that. used 125fps/100mp since 2001 so not going to change that :)

and with 100/100 atleast it feels like its harder to shoot warpers

plus i hate 100fps , its not smooth enough
Parent
125 fps = 63 packets
Parent
i know and its ok. im not lagging :)
for me , its more important that i have smooth game so i use 125fps
Parent
Quoteused 125fps/100mp
? and i agree it is way smoother @ 125 fps 120 hz
