So, are there any Gothic fans here? I've been addicted to this game since the very first day of playing it, going through every part of this series countless times, making myself a nolifer by choice.
But to the point- it's like the second namechange for this game. At first it was said to be Gothic IV: Genesis, then it was changed to Gothic IV: Arcania and now the title is: Arcania: A Gothic Tale and it's supposed not to change anymore. The release is now said to take place in 2010, February to be more accurate. But we all know that we will be lucky to play it even at the end of that year so I wouldn't take those words seriously. However, if they can eliminate some bugs and make this game even a little bit better then it's not a problem for me to wait longer.
As for the changes in the game itself, we're gonna have a new battle-system, it's possible we'll be able to ride a horse or some other animal, there's also gonna be a new movement and control system (as an alternative solution, the old one is gonna be there as well). For the time being, the game is said to being made for PCs and XBOXs 360 only.
I hope the new developing team, the Spellbound Studios, won't screw up and will make a great game, worthy of its name.
You can see some screenshots here.

As far as I know it will be still called Gothic IV in europe. Arcania: A Gothic Tale for the US Version since the previous parts were not published/were not very popular over there.
We can be sure of one thing: it will not be the same as Gothic III. It might be a lot worse or, hopefully, far better.
Gothic II + Addon was a very good game, played it several times.
Gothic III sucked.
gothic 3 = big fail
hopefully they spend a little bit more time in creating a good story, which is the most important thingy imo
