non of them, emo is not a musical style... there is emotional hardcore, thats where emo came from

to be fair i really dont agree that its not a musical genre in its self, bands like sunny day real estate did in my opinion focus the genre which you said correctly came from emotional hardcore/hardcore punk but its your opinion :)

its like indie rock... there were independent bands, now indie rock is a genre (almost all post-punk revival bands are indie rock bands)... so yeah, something transformed from emo too as a musical genre, but u cannot really define what is it...
