The sixth season of the Intel Extreme Masters, the global league of the video game champions, will take off with its first Global Challenge at gamescom 2011 in Cologne (August 17 - 21). The event will host the world's best gamers fighting for a share of 53,000 US Dollar and a slot in the World Championship competition, the grand finale of each season of the league.

atleast there is an IFNG with cs:s
ET would be in IEM if they could pay their way in :P
For instance, LoL had over 200,000 viewers at Dreamhack and is having close to 100,000 in a basic one sided group match right now - this is massive exposure for the event and is a push for their sponsors as they can say games during the day will get X amount of stream viewers.
ET at most would get 2-3k stream viewers if it was stream only. its the position the game is in for various reasons. :)
Enemy Territory is an awesome game, and it is really attractive for sponsors! Also the prize-purse is attractive for all the teams.
