Only Eight TeamsQuakecon have today announced the registration dates for the Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory 5v5 tournament. Teams can sign up onsite as of 8 AM, Thursday 3rd August, with registration closing that night at 8pm. Teams will be selected on a first come first served basis.
The tournament will be between only 8 teams. Halving last year’s number of slots. This move could be problematic for both American and European teams alike, with the Quakecon staff also encouraging BYOC players to sign up on the day.
As with last year the map list contains 7 maps played competitively on either side of the pond. The full map list is:
[*] Battery
[*] Braundorf_b4
[*] Radar
[*] Reactor_final
[*] Supplydepot2
[*] sp_delivery2
[*] sw_goldrush_te
With Quakecon being an event to showcase id’s games, they will be enforcing certain settings so that it is visually appealing. This includes forcing such cvars as r_drawfoliage, r_picmip, r_gama, r_mapoverbrighbits and r_overbrightbits. Quakecon have yet to release the full LAN config.
The tournament structure will be double elimination ensuring each team at least two matches. Matches will be played using the ABBA format.
A side note, Quakecon allows players to compete in multiple competitions, assuming match times don’t clash. This means that players competing in the Enemy Territory 5v5 tournament could chose to sign up for either the Quake 4 1v1 or Quake 4 2v2 tournaments.
Play begins Friday August 4th.

Just 3 weeks after cZar.et saw 2 of their players leave in favour of another clan and almost 2 weeks since the notorious and much loved Belgian player mesq “resigned”, a “new” cZar.et line-up sees the light of day. After achieving surprisingly good results in the EuroCup the former line-up was knocked out on the verge of entering the quarter finals. Since no really appealing alternatives to the EuroCup were known of at that time the squad became inactive, which resulted in the said departure of 2 of the players.

Their names should be well known to anyone who has followed the ET community in recent months and years and all of them have been on GIGA already:

Summer only comes round once a year, unless of course you migrate to Australia for half the year in which case you get 2. Or 3 if you're being clever, because you get another when you come back. In which case this analogy doesn't work. Let's start again.
toxic has taken up the reigns, and introduced his 5v5 style of gameplay upon the masses, much to the horror and vehement protests of a certain "high flying" German. But all that is irrelevant now as the signups are officially open, as has been the maplist announced. And boy, you're in for a shock. Let's get the easy ones out of the way. There is no supplydepot, there is no radar. But what there is, is sure to turn a few heads. The maplist is:
